Not So Wise Anymore

by kah-yoong

Thanks to evolution, we are getting more and more vestigial parts in our body which causes more inconvenience in our modern life that will not require of such body parts anymore. The ever clog prone appendix, little stump of tail bone which serves no practical use but hurts like mad when you fall onto them and not to forget the ever agonizing wisdom tooth which seems to ruin your day in your later years (not to mention that it’s almost impossible to clean it with a regular toothbrush).
I’m not the type that likes to go under the knife unless absoloutly necessary. I had removed my first wisdom tooth about a year ago (lower right) which didn’t want to sprout out like a full grown tooth. It caused days of agonizing pain and it got infected so bad that i had to undergo a week of antibiotics. 3 weeks ago, i had the similiar occurance, this time it’s the lower left which likewies, the tooth refuse to sprout from the gums, lying half burried in the gums, a haven for bacteria.
The RM380 op went on just fine. I felt little pain, all thanks to 3 doses of local anesthetics. It’s a good thing that we are only given 4 windom teeth, anymore and i’d have to apply a loan for tooth extraction.

The Big Bang

by kah-yoong

It’s not uncommon to fight in a relationship. Even my parents fight every once in a while over some petty issues or some misunderstanding/miscommunication. It’s a no brain-er that this post is about some quarrel I had. And the latest little fight really hit me in the face like standing in front of The Big Bang and having gazillions of quart particles flinging your direction. To put things into perspective, just assume that I’m the bad guy and I’m wrong for many reasons.

I’m determinedly stubborn.
If I ask for advice or make a statement, don’t bother to advice/correct me or voice your point of view because, I’m determinedly stubborn. I was thinking of adding wheel spacers onto my 7year old Kembara to give it a fierce stance and also to improve handling (not sure how much handling I can improve with a meek 8mm spacer) so I decided to do a little research. Other than ZTH (zero to hundred) and Kembara forum, I also shared my view with her who later told her brother about it (since her brother works for a car workshop, surely he’s well versed in car modifications). The answer that came back from forums and the junior mechanic was contradicting. There are a few who opposed on wheel spacers in ZTH forums, but there are also those who gave good input on how to find good spacers and how to do a proper wheel balance with those spacers. Her brother told me to scrap the plan due to vibration issues and possibility of hitting the mudguard. Unsatisfied, I asked a senior mechanic (my foreman) who eventually gave the same reply: No! Not good for your car.
So, in the end, I decided not to add those spacers since my foreman threathen me with a huge repair bill for making his life misserable by pimping my ride which may break down one day. What do you think her reaction was? Obviously the “I told you so” remark and ranted about how little faith I had in her brother.
Well, excuse me for being thorough

I didn’t call
Yes, I admit that I should’ve called to cancel but there are times that I forgot. Since woman been bitching about gender equality why can’t they make the phone call? After all, phones work both ways.

There are many excuse reasons why I kept mum.

visitting places

by kah-yoong

My Thai cousin Koo^ and his mom came for a 2 day visit and I got to play “tour guide”.

Frankly speaking, Malaysians are nothing but lazy bums that only know hot to shop. Initially I want to bring them to KLCC, Bintang Walk, China Town and other shopping complexes around the city.

Thanks for the deep, wise insight by my cousin Koo^, he has opened my eyes to the other cultural rich part of my country that I didn’t even realize I had. He brought along a tour brochure and told me the place that he wishes to visit during his short stay.

Below is a compilation of places that we went last Tuesday. Something that I think locals should be proud of.

KL Tower.
One of the world’s tallest telecommunication towers that sprout in the middle Kuala Lumpur city should be the first point of visit for anybody touring the city. Early morning visits would give clear view of the city since by noon time, haze starts forming due to emissions from automobiles.
International tourists are given audio guide to guide them around the observation deck but that’s no excuse for the locals not knowing how to identify landmarks scatter around the city. Wai Leng and I had much fun pointing out special places like the Istana Budaya, National Library, and other landmarks with breath taking architecture design.
At this point, further planning for places to visit can be made.
We were lucky that there’s an exhibition on the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di Pertuan Agong (Agong for short) personal assets such as trophies, souvenirs, paintings and photographs. I myself was awed at the items displayed, not to mention my Thai cousin whose very nature of respecting royals is deep in his blood.
(Off topic: During the visit to KL tower, there’s fieldtrip going on and I was very surprised that they did not stop to look at the exhibition. Though it’s just a small exhibit, it’s still something that we, as a commoner, get to know the royals better and not labeled them as figure-heads-that-drain-federal-resources)

KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Center)
From one tower to another. KLCC is the next best place to sightsee. It provides a roomy place to window shop, plus there’s also Kinokuniya, biggest book store in that building with the largest collection of English, Chinese, Malay and Japanese books. With plenty of restaurants and a food court below the cinema, starving is not an option (unless you are saving for a Rolex watch)
Other attractions are the Petronas Science Discovery Center, Petronas Arts Gallery and the Aquaria which are located at the top, 3rd floor and concourse respectively. Since Koo^ already visited Singapore’s Science center and the Aquaria, he decided to skip it and head to the Islamic Arts Museum.

Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia
By the time we got here, it’s already 5 o clock(no thanks to my prro sence of direction, spent an hour looking for this place). Thankfully, the museum closes at 6 which gave us an hour of viewing pleasure. Personally, I think this place rocks. Spaciously built, huge gallery, cooling atmosphere, nice architecture, exotic collections and many more that I just can’t put into words. It’s a must visit for those who appreciate arts and history. I’m truly fascinated by the miniature mosque of various places. It’s very detailed with notes and description on the history of the mosque.
