Worthy replacement

by kah-yoong

SmallnewloveBeen 3 days since I’ve blogged and placed an SOS in the bulletin board and only 20 contacts so far (I had over 200 contacts trapped in my broken P800). Which out of these 20, more than half of them are sourced by me. I can only conclude one thing out of this is that most people don’t read blog. It’s comforting to know that since there are so little readers, I think I can get away with rants and gossip that I have on some people I know in my circle without the risk of being caught? No? Well, that last sentence ought to catch some attention.

No, I’m not that evil to plunge a dagger of words onto anyone’s back just yet. Mostly because I’m quite very happy with my replacement phone. Behold, the K750i. This is by far the best phone I’ve ever used since the P800. I liked this phone, other than because of the basic brick design, is its functionality especially entertainment. After having upgraded to a 1gb memory stick duo pro, it’ll never be a dull moment with this phone. I’ve stored enough MP3 to last me a day of continuous playing and in the event I got bored listening, there’s a stock pile of funny movie clips and banned advertisement to provide humor at those dull moments.

As for games, the preset games are just mediocre. Nothing to shout about. Once I get Splinter Cell loaded, then it’ll be a whole new experience all together.

After 3 paragraph of bonuses, here’s the real deal of this phone. 2mp auto focus camera built into this communication device. It’s like having a real camera with you. The quality is simply fantastic as there’s a sample shown in my previous post which was taken without flash. The only complaint is that the emulated shutter sound is played although in silent mode. Guess I won’t be voyeur-ing anymore. I’ve noticed that Minland sets can have the shutter silenced, guess that’s one down side for AP sets. However all is not lost since mine ain’t branded and the local distributor has taken the effort to flash the phone.

Since this phone is using SE OS, which is much compact and simpler than symbian, there’s so far no restarts what so ever. Better yet, the response is way much faster then the P800 that I previously own. It’s not a fair apple to apple comparison, but that’s the only phone I can ever compare with. The other Nokia and Motorola I had are different class all together.

As much as this phone may seems as every SE fanboy wet dream, there’s some down side that I’d wish to address. Firstly is the availability of port. There’s only one port which is at the bottom of the phone which is shared by data, sound and charger. While the data cable also charges the phone via USB, I can’t charge the phone and listen on the ear piece at the same time. Unlike the P800 where there’s a separate port for ear plugs cum hands free kit.
