Blogging is serious business

by kah-yoong

It’s been a year since I started blogging, and was only 6
months since the name change to Banana Talk. Having been through 12 months of
blogging experience, it’s about time I voice out my experience as a blogger, of
both casual and personal type although there are times where I did product
review.

Trend

From the graph that I plotted, I sure wasn’t a consistent
blogger. Posting rate went up and down throughout the year and every time the
peak just keeps getting smaller and smaller. So much for pro blogging.

Lately I found myself in a difficult situation blogging my
thoughts. Since my friendster circle has increased to 50 people from the past
of only 40 (considered an achievement for an introvert like me), self censorship
and responsibility on my post has to be adopted with considering the feelings and
ideas of others. There are many posts that ended up saved in word documents
then being published in here. For example, are blunt tasteless rants. Not that I
never publish rants, but those are cleverly disguised not sounding obvious to
the intended person. There are backstabbing post (yes, I finally admit being
low) which are also disguised only to the person I intended to read. Yet, this
blog is kept clean from mundane daily events and broken “inglish” which seems
to get popular among most Malaysian non-pro-bloggers.

I assure you, my loyal readers, that the trend will not end
up flat like an unplugged VSM (vital sign monitor).

Ladder to success

by kah-yoong

One day, Harry came upon a big, long ladder that stretched into the clouds.

He’d walked this way every day and this ladder was never there before.

Curious and brave, he began to climb.

Eventually, he climbed into the layer of clouds, and saw this rather large, homely woman lying there on a cloud.

She spoke: "Take me now or climb the ladder to success!"

Harry figured success had to be better than this, so he continued climbing.

He came upon another level of clouds, and found a thinner, cuter woman than before.

She also spoke: "Take me now or climb the ladder to success!"

Harry saw that his luck was changing and so continued his climb.

On another level of clouds, he found a rather attractive woman with not so bad a figure.

She stated, "Take me now or climb the ladder to success!"

Harry
really liked his advantage now! He climbed quickly and deftly, and sure
enough, on the next level, he found a gorgeous, lithe, well-endowed
woman lying seductively on the cloud.

"Take me now or climb the ladder to success," she huskily whispered.

Harry
couldn’t believe his eyes, but his greed caught the best of him. He
climbed to the next level, expecting Aphrodite or similar.

Suddenly,
the ladder ends, and a latch closes behind him. He looks over to see a
400-pound, 6′8" hairy biker looking guy with tattoos.

The biker gets up and walks menacingly toward Harry.

Apprehensively, Harry whispers, "Who are you?"

The biker answers, "I’m Cess."

=editor’s note=

Happy Satan’s day

by kah-yoong

Yesterday was the 6th of June 2006, also written
as 06/06/06. What is 666? It’s the mark of the devil as described in the Christian’s
holy book, the bible. The irony of this day is that there are people getting married
in believing it’s prosperous day.

The HSBC effect
I still remembered the advertisement in the Time magazine
where there’s two identical pictures of the very same item, one labeled
positively while the other negatively. Same way as for the date 06/06/06. 6 is
pronounced as lŭk in hokien dialect. Coincidentally, luck is also pronounced as
lŭk. So, for the hokien, it’s considered prosperous, in fact most Chinese find
it prosperous to have dates of the same numbers like 01/01/01 and especially
08/08/08. So, a man’s meat might be another’s poison. One simply cannot impose
their value system onto others (BIG HINT TO MISSIONARIES).

No such thing as Santa
The next subject is obviously to question the reliability of
the bible. The bible, or the book of god some might call it contains not only
the Christian believes but also prophecies of what might happen especially in
the book of revelation. Not only was 666 the mark of the devil, but also the
release of the beast at the dawn of a new millennium. In short, four doomsday
was suppose to happen (666, 999, 1666 and 1999) of course, there are many more potential
doomsday on 06/06/06 which occurs every 100 years. Still, I’m still sitting
here writing my blog, alive, sane, and very much reasonable as compared of
those Christian faith that worship the tool that murdered god’s son, the
crucifix. So, what more can be said of the bible? Is it accurate? Yes, as it
claimed, but no as nothing materialized out of it. The world is still as it is,
people dying from cancer, been mugged, killed by a jealous lover, raped, run
down, gun down, decapitated by terrorist which has been pretty much the norm
ever since I learn to read the dailies.
