Politics in the air

by kah-yoong

Yes, it happens everywhere. Every organization, every clubs and lately happened in a car club that I’m active in. To make matters worse, there’s so many grey areas, that no one is right or wrong.

It all started out with a t-shirt for the club. First there
was a poll for design and shirt type. Later, upon accepting the results, a
totally different design and shirt type was used instead, namely the excuse of
supplier no able to meet their demands. Furthermore the price was rather high
(later found out that it’s exorbitant when one member who deals with t-shirt
told me about the actual price for one of those custom t-shirt). So far, it’s a
small problem. However, being Malaysian, who’s so self conscious of their air
muka
no one dare to express their feeling openly in the forum. Yup, total
silence. Since there’s no complaints, the t-shirt making process continued with
deposit taking for the order. That’s when hell broke loose.

T-shirt guy (didn’t want to expose his name here) was later
accused behind his back for merchandizing on club members along with his ‘gang’. I was caught in the middle since I am rather close with T-shirt guy and
supported his other activities that he organizes which unfortunately didn’t receive warm treatment from the other members. Even when the activity is affordable, and highly educational. Just because T-shirt guy fucked up once, he’s always the bad guy.

I’ve already e-mailed T-shirt guy regarding the matter since, after all, it’s one man against a mob. Should be fair to keep him informed. Though his reply wasn’t what I’d expect to receive as from his reply, there’s a hint of brushing off responsibility such as ignorance of the price and his hard headed-ness to go ahead with a designed that nobody choose.
