Agong installation day, so what?
One thing about unexpected holidays is that you don’t know what to do with the time given. Well, maybe not you, as for me, yeah, i find it difficult to spend my time. it’s like finding a Rm50 note while walking in the park. Yay, i’m Rm50 richer, now what? unlike money, which can be accumulated, time is something that move on, waiting for no one. same goes for holiday, i’ve 8 hours, and i’m not sure what to do with it.
well, what i can do is blog, which is what i’m doing right now. and at the same time backup my hard drives into 19CDs and counting. Wish i have a DVD burner right now. and also some troubleshooting since artifacts start appearing on my system. high end cards are indeed fragile. this would be the second time replacing the 9800, maybe i should downgrade to something slower. atsleast it won’t hurt the wallet in the event it break again. as for GC replacement, that’ll have to wait till my cheque clears. until then, no 3D games.

High Performance Challenge

Yesterday i had my first taste of track driving at SIC. HPC is an organized event where drivers are introduced to the high speed adrenaline pumping experience of track driving. Driving in the sense, that it’s not a race. we don’t compete with one another. We are there just to drive fast in a safe, controlled environment. Or so it seems.
I registered for a full day package which comes with 6 track sessions (25 minutes each) with instructor by my side, supervising. 6 sessions don’t seems like much, but the heat and the amount of energy spent controlling the car and paying attention to other drivers is really taxing to the body. by the 5th session i’ve to tall it quits and wasted the last session. anyway, back to the start, keegan, roy, keon and azim met up with me at Dengkil R&R at about 7.30am before making our way to SIC where registration opens at 8.30am.
9.00 am drivers briefing. there wasn’t much of a briefing other than introduction to the track, naming of the corners and flag identification. most of the learning takes place on the track itself with the instructor at the side. There are 3 groups which separates the drivers according to experience. since it was my first time on the track, i’m in group one, for noobs. overtaking only allowed on straights. i wasn’t really bothered at first since, it was my first time there and i was being very humble letting 280hp subaru impreza overtaking. afterall, there’s no way my 88hp neo could ever catch up with them. however, this humble-ness soon disappear as ego sets in and when i actually caught up with them at the bends. As those fast cars raced along their racing lines, i was actually power sliding inches off their back on my own racing line (which some instructors would disagree upon).
Racing lines are set for slow in fast out (SIFO) and this is possible by aiming for the apex where exiting (which requires a gradual increase in throttle) which prompts earlier acceleration. however there is this two consecutive high speed curves where this rule can be ignored with a smooth power slide. or just run over the apex like most F1 drivers do. since i do not intend to damage my suspensions, i slide while the subaru that over took me was navigating the corners. i could have over taken them there and then, but since group 1 has strict passing rule, i was forbid in doing so. hence the brewing frustration having to trail fast cars that are going slow.
speaking for fast cars, a Ferrari driven by a 19 year old graveled at the very last turn. picture tells it all.

hit the apex and spun around in the gravel
getting towed out by pick up truck with a rope tied on those expensive blings

Going Postal
Mad and angry, yes. in fact less on angry and more on frustration instead. As for murderous rage, not yet, but almost. With idiots on the roads who tried to run me off the road and road hogs who, well… hog the lane, i’m really surprised that i haven’t pop a vein yet or slash open those idiots throat with my blunt car key. sigh, only if there’s postal 2 to ease the psychotic temptations.
Speaking of postal 2, it’s ridiculously hard to find that game anymore. i’ve been to five different shopping centers (which have yet to be raided by the anti piracy police) that i know of which still have some old gold and guess what, there’s no postal 2. either there’s no demand for it, or it was sold out to other psychos like me.
or maybe both. sigh, too bad that i’ve misplaced my copy of that therapeutic game.

Murderous Dog
It’s that time of the year again where learning institute initiate the annual mass killing of white lab rats in the name of education and knowledge. yes, it’s dissection time for the form 5’s which Kim Yoong is undertaking. And being eager, as always, wished to have hands on experience dissecting a rat. So, after a short trip to Petaling Street pet store, i got 2 lab rats awaiting their doom on wednesday. however, one died prematurely. story as follows.
Happier Times: Oddball sniffing the rat out of curiosity
Barely settling in their new home, the rats was greeted by Oddball, which is fond for other smaller creatures. Oddball, being brought up as a spoilt in house dalmation, everything is considered toys for her. which is why she was waging her tail happily sniffing at the two new white guest nested in their cardbox home. Then, without warning,
*ngap*
Oddball grab the rat by it’s head with her mouth which she instantly released the moment i scolded her. As for the rat, it lied on its back, breathing heavily, twitched, released it’s bladder content and then stop breathing. it’s eyes from bright red faded off, to crystal clear yellow as the heart stopped beating. No bruises or external wound found on the rat, which leads me to conclude that it died of cardiac arrest from the shock it suffered having its head inside a canine mouth.
lifeless….. RIP little fella (other rat in hiding underneath shredded paper)
Note to self: keep Oddball away from any bite size creatures. cockroaches and insects are exempted.
