Barking Up The Wrong Tree

by kah-yoong

This Blog post was posted about a week ago at the club forum R3 child board (yeah, R3 is getting lots attention lately). It was about Perth ‘08 Motor Show and the main attraction (for the club members) is about the Satria Neo R3 where it was featured for the first time outside the country. And being proud Malaysians, and fanboy or Proton cars, who wouldn’t be proud that the very car they are driving are getting international attention?

But it was not the sort of attention they (fanboys) are getting from Craig, the blog author. Boy, he sure got a handful of angry anonymous leaving hate messages in his blog.

The thing is, I’m pretty much ashamed to be associated with them (anonymous) as they are giving Malaysians, in general a bad name. None of the comments left by anonymous makes any constructive sense, instead they are just venting their fanboyism anger at the author. The worst comment was left by the latest anonymous contributor (May,9-4.42AM), he called Craig a traitor and tell him not to come back to Malaysia. Hello…. Craig is NOT a Malaysian to begin with. At first i thought that only our local politicians were dumb, now I know who to blame for voting our dumb politicians up there in the first place.

Power without control is nothing,
Control without power doesn’t get you anywhere.

I was thinking of adding that above quote to silence the other annoying anonymous, but wait, that will make me a traitor, gosh!

Anyways, this blog, like Navel Contemplation, is a personal blog. No anonymous has the right to force an an apology out of us just because they don’t like what they read.

XD

Call Me Ah Lay

by kah-yoong

It’s the Metaltech and MTA fair at PWTC once again, the yearly event I never miss. This time with an added bonus, two halls specially for automation alone. Not to bore you with pictures of machineries, tools, die, and booth girls, here’s something really awkward.

Yup, they got my name wrong. Particulars like name, designation, company, contact number and address in the registration form are not filled since I’ve attached my name card onto it to save time. And oddly enough, my name card only reads Alex Wong, I never had my full name displayed, although I do have my name in traditional Chinese character just before my English name. So, for three hours I was known as Ah Lay to the many many sales person at the exhibition. XD

Just a glimpse of the smaller halls. Was really busy scouting the booths at the big halls.

Last but not least……

EMO BUTTONS!!!

Hit it to warn your colleague of emo personnel at the workplace. Or buttons that probably will cut itself. Anyways, for the benefit of those who don’t know what it actually is, EMO on that button meant Emergency Machine Off/On and not emo literally

Bumper Stickers

by kah-yoong

Super busy this week to do any blogging. So here’s a quick one, bumper stickers!!!
It used to be quite a fad, Nothing says look-at-me more, then big stickers stuck around the car, especially at the rear end for those tail-gaters to read. Usually they are brand names, I’m sure those corporate companies would love free advertising, even if it’s stuck by an Ah Beng on their waja/wira-lutiou.
But that was so yesteryear, current trend are URL! This is quite a hit especially for car clubs to promote, what else, their car club. SGTi has done it, MyviC are doing it, and we are enforcing it to our club members as well. Great reflective bumper stickers, comes great promotion responsibility. Great promotion responsibility comes great driving discipline which are bound to traffic laws. No more going 80 on a school zone, no more overtaking on a double line, no more tailgating, no more sticking out the international sign at road hoggers, no more weaving in and out of traffic like a mad man and many many other things that cannot be done which was once considered "fun".
Speaking of which, there are also personal URLs being displayed, especially private business and also URL to personal blogs. I know two neo owners who has/had their blog URL stuck at the back of their car. Yes, had, past tense. One of them is selling his neo after a few short months terrorizing motorist on on the hilly roads of Cameron Highlands. Since there were no complaints in his blogs, he must have been going so fast that other road users couldn’t read the URL properly. XD

I wouldn’t be doing any cosmetic improvements (including stickers) onto my Neo until my brother has better driving judgment. Plus, I’m not the type who can live with slow speed limit, knowing that both the driver and car can handle the same road at least twice of what’s it’s allowed (so, no club stickers for me, don’t want to give the club a bad name). If I were to have a bumper sticker it would read rotten.com or explosm.net

Iron Man

by kah-yoong

Ironmanrocks!OMGOMG,Iwassoexcitedaboutthemoviethatiactedlikeaschoolkidagainandcouldn’teventypeproperly.

I never really liked superheroes live action movies in the past because the special effects (or the lack of it) was a total let down. Fast forward to present time, I was still skeptical as they either overworked the CGI till it looked unreal like plastic textured Hulk, or totally mutate the characters like Transformers. Or sometimes the original storyline is greatly changed till it reflects little of its original comic book story like Transformers (again) and the X-men. Somehow, Marvel has manage to work its magic on Spiderman 1-3, Fantastic Four 1-2 and the latest Iron Man. I was simply intrigued as the plot slowly unfold (I never read Iron Man comics), and was mesmerized at the CGI which was not overkill and made believeable that if the technology exist, that’s how it’ll look in real life.

Working on Labor’s Day

by kah-yoong

It’s Labor Day and I’m working. Though not right now, since it’s lunch time and I’m taking some time off blogging till it’s time to punch in. There’s nothing to gripe about working on a public holiday, in fact I kinda like it this way. The highway is near empty which allows me to speed, and my neighbors are closed so there’s no double or triple parked cars outside my factory. Plus it’s so much quitter.

Anyways, it’s time to get back to work

Until then, enjoy this comic from Explosm.net
