Car Blueprints

by kah-yoong

Lotuseliseold_1I’ve found an awesome site while blind surfing. It’s called Car Blueprints.
A short description copied from the site
"Car blueprints - it is the world largest free car blueprints library. You can find what you want here! More than 5100 car drawings from 150 car manufacturers from all world. Library from A to Z."
Believe it or not, Proton and Perodua models are included in that site as well. Since it was last updated June 2007, it did not include newer models such as the Neo and new Saga. In fact the list of cars isn’t complete with many old signature models not listed such as the old Saga, Iswara, Wira, Satria and Waja. I’m not complaining that they don’t have a complete Proton list, (though I’d very much praise them if they do) since it depended heavily on contributions from other people, namely car owners who have their drivers manual scanned and e-mailed.

I’m however very much worried that site might not be sustained for long as the last update was about a year ago. That’s a really long time with many many new cars not listed like the 2008 Mustang GT500, Nissan GTR35 and the Satria Neo

Dragonforce

by kah-yoong

2000827882209733268_fs1Had this album blasting in my Neo CD player for two weeks. My thoughts so far:

1) Dangerous material for driving.

  1. 2) Stock CD player not enough oomph. The CD sounds much better played on PC windows media player then in the Neo.

3) Upgrade ICE, hope my hearing don’t deteriorate by the time I’ve saved enough to pimp out the entertainment system.

One Thing After Another

by kah-yoong

Another week passed without any updates. Not that i was too lazy, but rather a series of unforeseen circumstances which left me incapable of blogging at the comfort of my own home. you see. I no longer blog during lunch hour or during closing hours. Work load has doubled and I need all the time I have. This means, I only get to blog after working hours.

A week ago there was a lightning storm at my residence. it fried my wireless router. The good thing about going wireless, is that as long nothing is plugged in to a wall socket, it’s safe. My laptop was spared the carnage as it’s safely stored in my drawer. The general usage PC, or family PC had a fried LAN card. Even my dad’s Vaio LAN port was fried. It’s a good thing that we have a few USB LAN dongle laying around which serve as temporary LAN cards until a permanent solution was found. Replacing the PC LAN card was easy, but the Vaio, requires a motherboard change which will cost a bomb. And not to mention time consuming.

However, replacing my damaged Belkin wireless router was no drama at all. The kind staff at ALL IT (the place where I bought the router) explained that it is Belkin’s policy to replace any faulty router with a new unit. I can do that at ALL IT, however i need to produce a proof of purchase which unfortunately, I’ve lost it.
So, the fine chap then gave me Belkin local distributor for me to contact personally. One phone call later, I was already wrapping up the router back into its box and have it couriered the distributor. Two days later (Thursday), a brand new wireless router was sitting on my work desk. I was very impressed with the quickness and hustle free RMA procedure.

I had my Built by ATI Radeon 9800PRO RMA and it took me 3 months before receiving a new replacement unit.

so there you have it, two days versus three months. Now you know what I was so happy with Belkin.

I only enjoyed a short moment of internet in bed with the new Belkin wireless router. This time, it is Maxis, the ISP fault. No details were given by Maxis call center, but from the looks of it, it is most probably server side or one of their stations going offline and required maintenance as internet access wasn’t on until late sunday.

so, that sums up why I wasn’t able to blog for the whole week.

Petrol price up RM0.78

by kah-yoong

BN has done it once again, announcing a price hike of petrol and diesel this evening. The price hike is inevitable, with the scoring global price for crude oil, it’s bound to affect us sooner or later. However, their short notice has sparked panic buying through out the country. When I left form work at 6pm the gas stations were already packed with cars. Later that night at 11, it’s still packed and traffic congestion has actually got worse.
I wonder how much can they save. after fueling up, they’ll have to crawl through the traffic mess to get back home. It would probably consume 5-10 liters if they are stuck for more then an hour in the bumper to bumper river of cars.

From the press conference, there’s no mention of other sorts of reimbursement to the needy community. I still don’t see the logic how 30 cents off market price can help the lower-middle income group cope with the staggering cost of living.

Do anything. Kill detainees in the police lockup. Detain political
opponents and dissidents without trial on the lame excuse that they are threats to national security. Spend billions of the nation’s money on white elephants and monumental projects. Siphon out billions of Ringgit in ‘commissions’ from government projects and stash the money in numbered Swiss bank accounts. Kill of all the Rainforests. Mess up the environment. In short, do whatever you want. Just don’t put any strain on my pocket. The instant you touch my pocket, then, and only then, will I rise up in anger. That is the mentality of the Malaysian Rakyat.

Got that paragraph from Raja Petra Kamarudin’s Blog. Damn, it hit the spot. >.<
