To change or Not to Change?

by kah-yoong

The RadMod theme look very similar to the old theme I was using minus the ugly checkered red background. I’ve previewed it and it looks really good although i might need to readjust a few post and featured article picture links (advertorial). It would take quite some time to get used to this new RadMod theme after finally acquiring a taste for green themes.

To change or not to change?

Blocking Spam Comments

by kah-yoong

Ever since Friendster upgraded the blog to friendster blog 2.0 (wp 2.6) there has been a never ending flood of spam comments on newly published post. old post that were migrated were not affected. Only new post that attracts spam. Moderating comments before approval for display in the blog is one method to filter spam from genuine comments, but when 2 spam a week becomes 10 spam a day, drastic measures have to be taken.

Here is two easy steps to block off spam messages entirely.

1) Goto Settings > Discussion

2) At the Comment Blacklist field, fill in common words found in spam messages. Do be warned, if you have genuine comments with those words, it will be blocked as well. So, choose the words wisely.
IP address can be included in the blacklist as well.

High School Musical 3

by kah-yoong

So, the third installment of high school musical came and went. Oddly enough, there’s no magic left behind. It was only okay. no Wow!, or Astonishing! Nada. Probably I’ve outgrown the targeted audience of teens and preteens. Or probably I was expecting more, after watching Mama Mia, earlier this month.

Of all the musical that I’ve watched, (The Producers (2005), Enchanted (2007), 8 Mile (2002) (yes it’s considered a musical), Mama Mia (2008), High School Musical, Many many more Disney animations), my favorite pick is The Producers (2005).

I’ve lost count on the number of time I’ve watched this on DVD. It just doesn’t get old, the jokes are funny (hint: 11 O clock), the music is catchy (my favorite is Spring Time with Hitler) and the way the character are obviously stereotyped makes me chuckle, especially the blond bomb shell Ulla (Played by Uma Thurman). Go get a DVD copy today, you won’t regret it.

[Sunday Drive] Kuala Kelawang

by kah-yoong

Went for sunday drive with my bro and the car club last Sunday to Kuala Kelawang. It’s one of the hardest route that I’ve ever driven. It’s not the high number of corners that makes it difficult, but most of these corners are rather tricky to maneuver about with high speed entry point, and it tightens to a sharp bend towards the exit, most of the time catching the driver off guard, even at 60km/h. Foliage growing into the road, creating blind spots and slippery sand patch makes this route more hazardous. On the plus side, it hasn’t rain in 3 days, so the dry road provides plenty of traction for normal running soft sidewall Michelin PP2 tires.
